Heart Condition.................?

My cardiologists has ordered some test due to palpitations and ectopic heart rate spotted in my ECG reading. I forgot to ask Him a question: While we are waiting for answers, could I engage in cardio excercises? Coz when I do, I get breathless and heart beats very fast. Is this safe? since, I havent been ruled out as not having any underlying condition in the heart?
