Fussy baby, I am helpless?

LO is 8 months old now. Since he was born he was swang to sleep in our arms. Because he never slept. After he was 4 months old, I had attempts to put him in bed and let him cry. But i t did not work, he cried till he was almost blue and breathless. He doesn't sleep night and day. Day times I am driving aimlesslesly in the city so he can sleep at the back. I feel like my baby's slave, that I have to swing him and carry him all day. I love my kids, I am still breastfeeding but I feel so depressed now, I don't have a peacefull moment without the crying sound :( Should I just go to work, wean him from BF and leave him with a nanny?
